When the greenies go to a hearing or a review and they know that they have no reasonable arguments to make, then they go to the press in order to garner support from other lunatics. The press will of course argue that they have the freedom to publish whatever garbage they want. That is the basis of our society, eventually any Europeans who are not completely daft will realize that they need what ...more

Unobtainium , I like that !! Personally , I think wind and solar should come with warning labels. Warning !! Reliance on these products during periods of freezing weather can lead to severe trauma. Victims should be approached carefully to see if any skin discolouration has occurred. Look especially for signs of gang green !!
Comment by mnztr on Feb 07, 2022 12:36am
What about the gas wells that are freezing? Kinda self serving to ignore that!! Besides lots of winterized wind turbines and solar work just fine in cold weather, They have wind turbines in Alberta!!
Comment by IvanGubinski on Feb 07, 2022 12:42pm
The greens are the traitors of Canada. Their brains are so smooth that it shines like a diamond! The proliferation of the greens is a sign of lowering quality of Canadian education and Canadian identity. Canada exports natural resources. Period!
Comment by Pandora on Feb 07, 2022 4:38pm
And do you see it in your future where the entire country of Canada can be fed just by wind and solar and no oil/gas? Would it not be more realistic that another power source will be developed that is much more efficient, less costly, less environmentally destructive than wind and solar, and more practical to be built within the geographic base that we call Canada - and with a lot less ...more

Wind. Solar tidal and hydro. That is what will power canada in 25 years mostly
Comment by woodwise on Feb 08, 2022 3:15pm
LOL, I doubt that. In the 80's everyone was saying we would be getting around in flying cars by the year 2010. In the 90's they were saying the polar ice cap was going to be gone by 2020. There is always a group of nut cases that are predicting a negative future in the hopes to either scare a few people or sound a bit intellegent to an uneducated group of followers (Liberals).
Comment by mnztr on Feb 08, 2022 8:54pm
why would you say green power is a negative future? Wind is the cheapest and fastest growing source of generating capacity today.
Comment by Pandora on Feb 08, 2022 10:09pm
Yes, you can just picture them replacing all those fields of grain on the prairies with fields of solar, interspersed with windmills and then building new transmission lines to carry all that power to Ontario and Quebec. Although Quebec may be the beneficiary of the power generated from the tidal powers of the Bay of Fundy. Seems to me the tidal power from the Bay of Fundy was a topic back when I ...more

And then there is a Reuters analysis on EV's and charging stations: https://graphics.reuters.com/AUTOS-ELECTRIC/USA/mopanyqxwva/ The market for VET will be here a lot longer than I will be.
Comment by Oldnagger on Feb 08, 2022 11:50pm
Here is the kicker, If the planet does warm up and all the polar glaciers melt, then the release of all that fresh water into the Oceans will result in the slow down of the Atlantic Gulf stream, which will in turn cause bitterly cold winters in Europe, thereby increasing the price of TTF gas thru the roof !!
Comment by mnztr on Feb 09, 2022 11:39am
How does this debunk what I said, I said 25 years, that means 2047. By 2030 gas car sales will be banned.  Also what will the demand destruction do to oil prices.
Comment by woodwise on Feb 09, 2022 1:03pm
LOL, 2030 sales of gas cars banned. Is that like the sales of assault weapons, our the war on drugs???? There are more assault weapons made and sold than ever before. And drugs, not only are there more drugs since the war on drugs started, they are even legalizing it. Safe injection sites, free heroin......Ya, they'll never sell another gas powered car. Ha, ha, ha.
Comment by GregC24 on Feb 09, 2022 1:18pm
I wouldn't laugh so hard.  Vehicle manufacturers are already preparing for that reality. https://thedriven.io/2021/03/03/no-future-for-ice-volvo-will-sell-only-pure-electric-cars-by-2030/
Comment by woodwise on Feb 09, 2022 1:38pm
Ya sure. And all the truckers will be using them, the ships will be EV, the planes will be EV, and the trains. And there will be 600 million charging stations everywhere. And then with climate change and all these power outages, we can just run these cars and trucks on air because there will be no gas stations. We don't have enough power to supply our needs right now. Conserve power, use off ...more

Ya, right now with me heating my home with electricity because we don't have natural gas is about 600 a month in the winter throw in a EV and I can't eat ???????
Comment by woodwise on Feb 09, 2022 3:55pm
Waiting until the EV cars are everywhere, how much do you think electricity will cost then? When there is an electrical shortage. The greens always come up with solutions, too bad none of them are any good or well thought out.
Comment by jdoubleu on Feb 09, 2022 8:55pm
It cost me $70 in electricity for my car last month -  but most months it's about $40. And it is a way more pleasant drive than any other car I've driven. But, more importantly, your argument is trash. You are, after all, an investor I assume. So, presumably, you believe our system relies upon companies that provide services that people want/need. When the want/need goes up more ...more

If you think you'll be paying the same for that electricty when the gov't has you by the balls you're dreaming.. the level of energy demand will continue to grow even without EV's, by more than wind and solar can supply.. nuclear is the only other option if coal, oil, & gas are removed from the equation.. and it will be decades before that happens.. if ever.. notice how Europe ...more
Comment by Oldnagger on Feb 10, 2022 12:58am
Well said Moemoney. AS Eric Nuttall keeps repeating petroleum energy ignorance keeps leading  to a shortage of overall energy supply. That trend is still firmly in place. Right now the world needs all the natural gas it can get just to replace the huge and growing amounts of coal being consumed. Canada has been blessed with an abundance of energy in all forms. What it lacks completely is ...more

France is one of the most heavy users of Nuclear in the EU. Germany has said NG is a 25 year transitoin fuel. Why does Canada need to declare anything? There are several European nations that are quite far along in using wind and solar. Provinces decide their energy policy, not the feds.

Oil companies are changing as well for example wcp is using co2 sequestration to reduce its carbon foot print. Oil bull will run for at least 3 years and maybe as long as 10
Comment by mnztr on Feb 10, 2022 12:46am
Are us using a heat pump? 2 months out of the year i spend 4-600 as well using gas. But very little other months.

GregC24, sorry you can't figure this stuff out. Part of my job years ago was to monitor hydro in Ontario and work within a hrdro plan. Something you wouldn't learn as a Walmart greeter. Pay attention to what's going on around you, it's your choice to be uneducated. You see over loaded power grids all over North America, south states are some of the worst. Grids will be upgraded and many aspects of EVs such as 2 way chargers will actually help balance out load. Most of the load on EVs will be at night when demand is lowest.
Comment by GregC24 on Feb 10, 2022 8:15am
Thanks for proving my point.  "These darn horseless carridges will never catch on.  Things will always be the same as they are now." That's some intelligent stuff right there.  First, here in Ontario we are in an energy surplus.  And just today the government announced plans to further reduce overnight rates to encourage overnight charging in the future to reduce ...more

I never said I worked at Walmart.  Doesn't seem to stop you from jumping to all sorts of conclusions.  But I understand you keyboard warrior aggressiveness comes from your sense of inadequacy.  It's ok.    You combat it by lashing out to distract from your weakness.  Much like a bully does.  The words...they hurt so much..so painful...so much anger...
Comment by mnztr on Feb 09, 2022 7:30pm
Right now there is a power surplus in Ontario. Quebec has a lot more Hydro capacity as well. Home batteries can store power to charge at night and most cars will charge at night when demand is lowest. If demand is there, investments will be made on upgrades.
Comment by mnztr on Feb 09, 2022 1:23pm
You clearly have not driven an EV.  If you did you would instantly realize that ICE vehicles are on their way out.
Comment by mnztr on Feb 09, 2022 1:27pm
P.S at the current price of gas my gas (1.50/l) the cost of gas for my ICE car is about 6-7x the cost of driving my EV.

In Germany I wonder how much the "Greens" support the import of Russian Oil & Gas - or is that verboten as well? Do we see any news irems in that regard? How well did their venture into wind&solar while shutting down all nuclear work out?
