You can Google "Donald Trump Cannabis" to find a number of articles that comment on Trump's view of Cannabis.

My impression is that he favors medical legalization but he's not a fan of rec. This doesn't mean he would not federally legalize however as anyone in office would have to consider that over 40 US states have legalized to one degree or another. 

By not federally legalizing the politicians could be viewed as either going against the will of the nation or just plain idiots.

Mind you, politicians appear to be very comfortable looking like idiots these days.
