I personally feel that in the original proposal the banking syndicate was going to take a haircut but I have no evidence other than my gut feeling.  Banks will avoid Receivership if at all possible.  I believe the first sale process was conducted in a professional manner and the best bid received was put to the shareholders.  After Receivership, favorable circumstances occurred which resulted in a better selling price.
In the case of the tax pools, they have been acquired by the purchaser as part of the purchase price.
