Mexico Establishes Diplomatic Relations with the CAR Mexico and the Central African Republic established diplomatic relations yesterday. The joint declaration was signed by the permanent representatives to the United Nations of Mexico, Juan Ramn de la Fuente, and the Central African Republic, Ambroisine Kpongo.
The date marks the first anniversary of the Political Agreement for Peace and Reconciliation in the Central African Republic, signed in Bangui on February 6, 2019. Mexico participates in the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA), is part of the UN Peacebuilding Commission, and has presented its candidacy for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council for the 2021-2022 term.
Mexico now has diplomatic relations with all of the African countries. The current administration is promoting closer political, economic and cooperation relations with the African continent. This has included high-level visits in both directions, a closer dialogue with key actors on bilateral and multilateral issues of common interest, and cooperation projects focused on social development.
Joint declaration on the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Central African Republic and the United Mexican States
The Central African Republic and the United Mexican States,
Desiring to promote mutual understanding and to consolidate relations of friendship and cooperation among their peoples;
In accordance with the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations and the principles of international law, including respect for and the promotion of international peace and security, equality between States, national sovereignty, independence, the rule of law, territorial integrity and non-intervention in the internal affairs of a country;
Have decided to establish diplomatic relations between both countries at the Embassy level in accordance with the provisions of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, adopted on April 18, 1961;
In witness whereof, the undersigned, duly authorized by their respective Governments, have signed this joint declaration in two originals, in the Spanish and French languages, both texts being equally valid.
