GEC Report on Russian Disinformation

https://www.state.gov/russias-pillars-of-disinformation-and-propaganda-report/

1. As in Bullseye Podcast said by CEO M. Gunter, Datametrex has the technology and the products to fight disinformation

2. Guess what, DM had presented their tech to GEC (a while ago!). But they have the contacts, and as Resilience mentioned, the security clearance.

I wouldn't trust our own government. They are also involved in lots of disinformation.....they are the ones that should be placed on a short leash. The more power that placed in government hands, only increase the potential for abuse. Case in point, The Patriot Act after 9-11, have give the USA intelligence agencies too much power....they have become a state within a state, despite who is in ...more

In my opinion, this board is not to place to discuss political opinion on the usage of technologies or any other issues, This board is just about investing in technology that are in need and bring us money. And fact is, the more Russia, China, Iran, India, Saudi Arabia uses disinformation the better it is for DM shareprice. JMHO Torlif

Torlif... I very much agree with you on that point and have no disagreements with you. I have read on this board many times about using this technology to monitor domestic extremists or monitor disinformation from various domestic groups....this is a red flag...we have to be careful here. My point is AI can be used very effective against external forces....but strict check and balances must be ...more

@Max, I think that the point is that we are invested in DM and should take it as it is or move on to other businesses that may better suit our respective ideological preferences. Otherwise, we'll end up having a never ending stream of posts highlighting elements they may not like about DM's business (i.e. those who don't believe in COVID because 'it doesn't exist', anti ...more

And that advice you give is worth about 2 cents !
Comment by Resilience19 on Jun 18, 2021 10:15am
@mason, coming from you I'll take it as a compliment as 2 cents is worth just about 1/10th of a DM share while the sum of your posts are worth zero cents :-) Hunker down in your South Dakota bunker, up in Hill Billy land, alongside your Proud Boy buddies, waiting for your deepstate FBI to come and innoculate you with a tracker once you stick your head out, in 10 years or so... By which time ...more

Resilience... I don't get your point. Simply raising a few concerns.....hey, even Marshall himself indicated during the interview that there are boundaries he wouldn't cross.
Comment by Resilience19 on Jun 18, 2021 10:30am
So @Max, if Marshall highlighted the fact that there are 'boundries he wouldn't cross', this should answer your concerns about DM not aspiring to negatively use their AI (leaving others to do so). As such, there is no need to highlight a 'possibility' of DM's tech not being used against someone's values as a concern if, in fact, this hasn't yet been the case ...more

Respectfully Torlif , I disagree  IMHO , Maxdude raises a fair & important point, that was even raised by Adam Johnson in his podcast interview with Marshall, and that's surrounding the ethical use of AI and should we be fearful. In some cases such as the Patriot Act I can say I agree in some respects that over reach by governments can occur and there is a strong need to keep ...more

Great write up...I couldn't do a better job. Thanks for your detailed analysis. Yes, I have been following Bill C-20 and I am very concerned about what the government is asking. This incrementalism approach of diluting the Canadian Bill of Rights is dangerous and the use of AI by the government to achieve these goals is bothersome to me...personally.
