Battery density

Battery density This is an interesting article announcing a lithium battery with an energy density of 500 Wh / kg. Previous density in a Tesla I understand is nearly half this. I cannot confirm if lithium batteries all utilize cobalt however when nickle batteries were being explored (without cobalt) I thought it was only a matter of time before even better more advanced batteries would be innovated using traditional high quality products (including cobalt). Is anyone on this forum familiar with batteries? Do all lithium batteries utilize cobalt?
