NEWMONT HAS THE DOUGH....
Newmont has made a US$17 billion bid to take over Newcrest,
which has five operating mines, including the
Lihir gold mine in Papua New Guinea.
Based on resent articles,
It appears, Newcrest thinks the offer is far too low,
Newcrest also said its underlying profit was a better
than-expected US$293 million for the half year
ended December 31, 2022
$17 billion ~ $586 million ( Newcrest profit / full yr )
= 29 yrs to pay off the $17 / billion
HYPOTHETICAL -
5.5 billion pounds of - nicel
82% recovery ( 4.5 lbs ) - - ( Liberty had 89% )
4.5 lbs per tonne
let's make it - 500 tonnes
= 1 tonne of nickel metal
40,000 tonnes per day ~ 12 hour operations
= 3,333 tonnes per hour
40,000 tnnes ~ 500 / t ( eq of 1 tonne nickel )
= 80 tonnes of nickel metal
x $23,000 / usd
= $1,840,000 usd / day
x 365 days yr
= $657,000,000 million / usd / yr
Newmont, seeking 5 mines from Newcrest
= 5 headaches
versus
1 mine in thier own backyard of, Timmins....
Hypothetical - purchase
$1 billion
~ $657 million ( gross )
= 1.52 yr payback ( gorss figures )
Versus -
29 yrs to pay off - Newcrest purchase of, $17 billion.
Our lil junior also has a potnetial,
10 km strike... only 20% drilled.
40,000/t per day x 365
= 14,600,000 tonnes per yr
divided into - 1.1 billion raw tonnes
= 75 yr operation - with potential bonus - 8 km strike
Headshakers as to why....
Newmont is not looking in thier own Timmins backyard.
Would make a wonderful ( expmasion ) thier existing
gold mines around Timmins.
Hey.... why not crunch a few numbers -
yes, gross figures.... but you get the, idea.
Our junior should make a concentrate - send over
a batch sample to - Newmont - at thier = electrowinning facility.
Maybe they have a few spare electro cells - avail....?
NICKEL
- stainless steel industry
- ev cars / trucks
- hydrogen cars / trucks
- fuels cells / producing decentralized hydrogen energy
I wonder if were gaining Xander investors - since Xander
whose aside of, CNC, had dismal results... wink.
This post is not investment adivce...
There's no telling what Newmont's next move is...
But... it's fun to see the comparables and how larger companies
throw money at other projects - vs - projects sitting right in thier
own backyard....
Cheers.....
