All the basher rhetoric aside, here is a response from a very experienced chemist familiar with solution mining in Saskatchewan to a question on another site relating to the chances of mastering the process of a feasible horizontal potash selective solution mine in Saskatchewan.


"The question that needs to be asked is "Are they getting sustained saturated KCl brines (preferably close to19% from the mine?"If they can do this, or anyone else can do this, from a hot recycled brine feed, they have sucessfully mastered selective solution mining. This has been the challenge for the last 60 years."

MDJ, was not bashing only pointing out the challenge that is ahead.  I have the same opinion as others that it is achievable but at what cost, timeline and consistency due to challenges of regional geology.  Is the ore laid down perfectly horizontal?  Are there bed dips?  Collapse features?  Carnallite stringers?  The list of unknowns and challenges are much longer ...more

Sorry frostback, I certainly wasnt implying you, as I am the Debbie downer here according to some here that dont understand the mining technology and the risks involved.. It is refreshing to hear from someone witth experience in solution mining who is keeping it real. I agree with you 100% that the GSP team has a very competent technical team, and should be able to sort through the issues as ...more
