Half price sale Carry it a little further. Let's say that a food supermarket is full of customers, happily shopping; perhaps a few are buying tuna at $1 a tin. An announcement is made that immediately tuna will be sold at a new price of 50 cents a tin. Customers back away. "Must be something wrong with that tuna", is heard. Some cry, "Let me out of this store!" There is a rush to the exits, "Thank the lord that I didn't make the mistake of taking advantage of the sale price", says one nervous shopper. "Yes', another replies,"even though it seems to weigh eight ounces, I suspect the tins are empty". Others contest that it's all a ruse, and soon the entire canned goods aisles are empty of customers.
How improbable. Yet the same doofus attitude exists every winter season on many spec' issues with a real potential when the ice breaks.
