RE:Strategic Update There are other considerations here from this Ukraine war.
The new energy strategy of the Russian Federation has had an impact on reducing gas transit through the territory of Ukraine.
The goal of the Russian Federation is to eliminate third countries from the gas supply process.
The confirmation of this strategy was the construction of Nord Stream (2011), Nord Stream 2 (under construction), Blue Stream (2003) and TurkStream (2020).
The commissioning of these gas pipelines will significantly reduce the volume of gas transit through Ukraine.
Indeed, Russia has made it clear that it would stop all gas transit through Ukraine as of 2024.
However, it now appears certain that Russia will cease transiting its gas through Ukraine within the year, as its major markets are now in Asia.
Besides the loss of billions in gas transit fees, along with the loss to Russia of its major oil and gas fields in Eastern Ukraine, Ukraine will have only western Ukraine as its source of fossil fuels.
So, if western Aid does arrive, you will see major investments in the undeveloped oil and gas potential of Western Ukraine.
For those who do not know history, Western Ukraine was the largest supplier of gas to the USSR until the breakup of that Federation in 1990
