Interesting..FPI just got $25.5 million grant

MINISTER OLIVER EXTENDS FPINNOVATIONS’ FOREST SECTOR TRANSFORMATION PROGRAM WITH $25 MILLION COMMITMENT
Vancouver, British-Columbia, July 14, 2011 – Canada’s forestry innovation hub, FPInnovations, today welcomed Federal Natural Resources Minister Joe Oliver’s announcement of $25.5-million towards the 2011-2012 Transformative Technologies Research Program (TTP). This program focuses on the development, adaptation, and deployment of emerging and breakthrough technologies relating to forest biomass utilization, forest biotechnology, nanotechnology, green chemistry, bio-materials, innovative wood-based building systems as well as information and communications technologies.
“Today’s announcement extends a unique industry/government partnership that is transforming the forest sector through innovation. This announcement will help build and strengthen an innovative and diversified forest products sector in Canada. That is good news for job growth and new economic opportunities for hard hit forestry communities,” stated Alan Potter, Vice-President of FPInnovations.
FPInnovations TTP research is currently shaping the future forest industry by:

Researching new technologies

Creating new production processes

Developing new forest products and markets

Making the industry more efficient and innovative.
“There is a growing appreciation and global demand for wood fibre-based products due to their environmental attributes (water and air recycling, and carbon sequestration). With the right business conditions, such as strong partnerships and FPInnovations’ transformative technologies, the sector can be prosperous, providing a more diverse basket of traditional and new products to the market and becoming a leader in an emerging bio-economy,” concluded Alan Potter.

Clearly, Lignol's new project with FPI is being funded from this rather large grant, with Lignol providing in kind technical and process support as its part of the deal.It is yet another example of why Lignol is able to advance its business agenda without undue dilution of share capital. The intent of the Govt of Canada as well as that of B.C.is to transform the forest sector through ...more

"An integrated kraft mill producing pulp, paper, and ethanol along with several varieties of high value lignin derivativesis a nice example of such a transformation, as the green footprint would increase from less than 20 % to more than 90 %.Those millions of tons of forest waste caused by the beetle disease in B.C. presents are huge opportunity for lignol and its industry partners.Dont sell ...more

Seeing the lack of response here and no trading today, this one isn't going anywhere soon.  Then again, you just never know.

Slow and steady wins the race str8.Lignol is not looking to become an ethanol producer per se, rather they've deviated somewhat into a higher margin oil-based resin alternative, HP-L Lignin which takes the necessary time to test and sell to what seems will be great demand.HP-L Lignin is a $2 Billion a  year market and in time Lignol should win over enough of that share with their ...more

Hey I believe you 2guys, but I just don't think this is a mover.  This may take longer than some think and that's evident in the way they've delayed putting out results for trial sales of their lingin to partners.  Haven't they been at it since April? This may be a winner next year, but for now it's not moving much and there are other plays which should do much better ...more
