Money

By now everyone has heard about K"s bid for Great Bear. Congrats to all the Great Bear shareholders. Now what has this to do with Lion you may ask? Well a lot if you think about it. Over the next three months 1.4 billion dollars will be looking for a new home. 66% of GBR shareholders are retail which is very large. So that's almost a billion dollars of retail shareholders who will be looking for a home - never mind institutions.
If Lion hopes to attract any of that money it should announce concrete plans for a mill along with timelines withen the next three months.  Drill results alone are not going to cut it anymore - that should be obvious. The market is looking for more.
Let's hope Lion doesn't pass up on a unique opportunity that presents itself.

Last year I convinced myself that NEM would buy out LIO.  NEM CEO said its getting very difficult to find new multi-millilon oz deposits to replace reserves.

Forward….. I still think that LIO will be bought out ; but is it going to be NEM, hard to say. Judging by current inaction I don’t think Wally is capable to push through with actual mine development. Whatever the case is reserves have to be well defined first. There will be no acquisition until LIO translates this ‘World Class Discovery’ into good number of ounces in the ground. G37

Re buyout depends on your timeline. Short term no buy out. The "person" has been muttering about people kicking the tires for years. I never took it seriously. Have been nibbling away at this price.

The intense competition for the early-stage Great Bear, which has no proven gold reserves at its Dixie project, illustrates how rare big gold finds are becoming worldwide, and the lengths the largest mining companies are going to secure them. Kinross announced on Dec. 8 it had reached a friendly agreement with Great Bear to acquire the firm for $1.8-billion in cash and stock, a 26.5-per-cent ...more

With Mr. David Tretbar on the board (..."Since 2010 he has held the position of Vice President of Exploration and Mineral Resources for Summit Mining International, a 100% -owned subsidiary of Sumitomo Corporation of Japan") my guess is that Sumitomo is the heavy fovorite to buy out LIO. There's a lot of talk on this board about concern for shareprice but the reality is that the ...more

Before Newmont and Sumitomo potential bidding war, LIO must have well define resource on books. Agree; that this is a possibility & consolidation of exploration prospects/companies is a natural next step in the mining sector or any other industry. All those ‘new’ outfits will eventually end up in hands of established majors. Also agree that for the time being the share price is of little ...more

"The intense competition for the early-stage Great Bear, which has no proven gold reserves at its Dixie project, illustrates how rare big gold finds are becoming worldwide,"   You could be correct but looking at the above indicates that isn't always correct.  What LIO has is a known type of deposit, which has bonaza gold.  They don't need to define a large ...more

Well , regardless of the future , the stock is currently somewhat disconnected from the price action in gold.  they also need to show that there are no execution issues as they push out with the drilling etc

Most other cdn gold stocks are up 7 to 10% - this stock continues to just be disconnected from the price action of the underlying commodity?????

I totally agree with you bulldog.  We should hear more about the mine development soon (I bet before the annual general meeting), but I don’t think Wally will ever commit to a timeline nor a budget with inflation / supply problems getting out of hand.  Franklin and Invesco are part of the GBR investors and maybe they will also add to their lio participations.
