That is correct. Malaco , in a private arrangement ,acquired 30 million shares in January / 20 that cancelled out a $15 million loan that was owed to it. It now owns 55 m shares

That was one strange transaction. Malaco lend $15M to a 3rd party to buy share at C$0.50 each during the Mengapur sale. That was a good deal for the 3rd party. If the share price go up, you make good money for free, share price drops, stick it back to Malaco.

Didn't Cathy mention that the purchase of Mengapur is instigated by a largr shareholder. Would not surprised me if said shareholder told Malaco to buy his/her 50M share at C$0.50 (which is then market price) and s/he get MMY to buy Malaco's Mengapur for a hefty price. Win Win for all, except MMY retail shareholders.
