A Project Manager is required for a mining company operating a gold mine in Peninsular Malaysia and working on a major expansion to its mineral processing facilities. The successful applicant will have previous relevant project management experience in the mineral, chemical or petroleum industries.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage all available resources to complete the project on time and within budget.
- Manage the project schedule during each phase of the project development to meet tight dateline.
- Identify critical path problems and recommend the allocation of resources to resolve any issues.
- Assist in the procurement process including the preparation of tender bids.
- Assist in the evaluation of procurement proposals leading to the award of successful tenders.
- Assist in the preparation of supply contracts for equipment and services.
- Liaise with nominated inspection companies to check on manufacturing progress and inspect completed goods prior to despatch.
- Liaise with transportation contractors to ensure timely delivery from factory, seaborne shipment, payment of import duty and sales tax at Malaysia port and onward transportation to site.
- Closely monitor construction progress, identify shortfalls and recommend remedies.
- Maintain a close working relationship with all other members of the project team, internal stakeholders, consultants, owner’s engineer, contractors and sub-contractors.
- Prepare weekly, monthly and quarterly progress reports.
- Monitor project progress using earned value management.
- Ensure that all work is conducted in a safe manner and complies with company and statutory Health and Safety Regulations.
Requirements
- Minimum ten years’ experience in project engineering and at least five years’ as project manager.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or chemical engineering.
- Preferably have obtained a Master’s degree in project engineering or management.
- Have past experience in building petrochemical or chemical plants.
- Fluent in Bahasa and English, both spoken and written.
- Resourceful, motivated and good communicator.
- Willing to work for 6 working days in a calendar week for entire duration of the project and able to spend time beyond normal working hours to meet datelines.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Proficient in Primavera P6, MS Project, MS Office and AutoCAD.
- Current driving license.
- Passport holder.
- Willing to travel overseas as and when required.
- Willing to work in Sg. Koyan, Kuala Lipis, Pahang.
