Dude worked a stretch for Sprott and then a founder of Newmarket that was the animal that

had Fosterville?

Mr. Hurst holds a Bachelor of Science in geology from McMaster University (1986) and has over 30 years of experience in the mining industry as a geologist, consultant, mining analyst, and senior executive. He was a mining analyst with McDermid St. Lawrence, Sprott Securities and a contract analyst to Pacific International Securities and Octagon Capital up until 1995. From 1995 to 2003 Mr. Hurst operated D.S. Hurst Inc. a company offering corporate, evaluation and financing consulting services to the mining industry. He was a founder and executive of International Royalty Corporation from 2003 to 2006, and a director until 2010 when the company was purchased by Royal Gold for approximately $700 million. Mr. Hurst was also part of the founding group of Newmarket Gold, which was sold to Kirkland Lake Gold in 2016 for approximately $1 billion. Mr. Hurst currently serves as the Chairman of Northern Vertex Mining and as a director of both Calibre Mining and Newcore Gold.

Hold on tight to your shares guys because the fun is just getting started. The real big money will start moving into NFG soon. If NFG wants to develop this monster themselves they will need to raise a few hundred million dollars so at what price will that happen I wonder. Or if they decide to sell it to a major what will the eventual buyout price be. Inquiring minds would love to know ...more

Megacopper, I agree, Mr. Hurst is deeply connected to the industry as proven by his track record. He represents the pathway to being acquired. Mr. Hurst was part of the founding group of Newmarket Gold, which, following discovery of the high-grade Swan Zone at the company's Fosterville mine, was sold to Kirkland Lake Gold in 2016 for approximately $1 billion. Mr. Hurst is a serially ...more

It is interesting, but we must remember that at the time, few geologists were very familiar with this sort of deposit in the manner QH was. The mine had operated as a (relatively) low grade open pit for a long time, and had begun to chase the ore below surface, as they depleted the upper bed. The mine was not a huge money maker at that time. They had only recently begun to hit small pockets of ...more

There are still very few with good exposure to these "Fosterville" like structures and  that is why they got him. I would like to know when he started taliking to QH when he was at Newmarket. IKE

Well what it tells me is that everything that I am hearing and seeing with my own two eyes is that this is a monster high grade gold discovery. And the eventual buyout price will be much higher or if they decide to go into production themselves they will need these guys to protect this rare and very valuable mineral asset. Guys like this Newmarket fellow don't get involved with small ...more

It's obvious that NFG has a game plan that it is executing and certainly has it's eye on the big prize. z The Greek here,  he wants to know who is the J.R. Ewing behind NFG?

Palisades (31%), Sprott (18%), and McEwen (7%) own more than 50% between them - total 56%. Those three will be making "the decision".

It is comforting to know that all of us long the stock are alligned with the big guys whose interest is to make this a world class gold miner or at  least to encourage the stock price to advance  higher. Nice to be able to sit back and allow them to do the heavy lifting as this may be a once in a lifetime opportunity . Sleep well and let things happen as we are their "partners" ...more

I,m not suggesting that there will not be any downdrafts. I believe that the long term trend is up for obvious reasons. I was not involved in NVl but I own KL at around $8.00 so I am content with my cash cow giving me my dividends.every 3 months .You must admit that $8.00 to $50.00 is still a nice advance. I am obviously a long term holder rather then a flipper but this method has served me well ...more

I also can tell interesting stories after the fact. You have your investment style and I have mine. I admire your perfect hindsight . As an aside, why do you always appear to be a grouchy old man and have this obvious need to belittle other posters? Is it to bolster your own ego ? You are showing the classic sighs of a insecure and unhappy person. Seek help while there is still time would be ...more

Old Fox, be easy on these people over here on NFG - I was trying to treat you like a brand new guy so you could maybe blend in and at least have a reputation over here, but you're already BLOWING IT! Not sure if you are addressing this to meSunvalley and not sure if what I have said on our own stocks price in the future. This I always hate as you cannot predict the price of gold. As  KL who just crossed 50 today Fosterville is depleting but still 50% of earning. Detour asset I somewhat followed years ago and a very trick low grade asset but will produce forever if continued to be well ...more

Yes, apparently Sprott likes to yield to QH, as he most certainly did on the Kirkland Lake thingy - and Sprott PUBLCLY gave QH credit for having guided KL into the Swan Zone, to the chagrin of the CEO of KL, Tony Something-or-the-Another.

Cotton Picken Megacopper he left out the brain. Don't you know the body cannot function without the brain. It is like he only knows what vegeterian zombies eat (grains). ES would have never gleaned a billion bucks without QH ( I kinda think it  was our  newest board member that first talked to him about what they were finding at Newmarket) Very much we do not have Bob Moriarity ...more
