ES has assured exploration is financed till well into 2023. That's a huge sign of confidence

Follow the money! seems to be good advice.

I think if there was any doubt in anyone's mind it should be erased now with this huge investment by the biggest gold bug in the world. NFG's Queensway is bigger and better than Fosterville and Eric Sprott will make another billion or two off this one. Incredible vote of confidence for the project.

This is Fosterville v2. The same players QH and ES. ES knew what was in Fosterville and couldn't  understand why the market couldn't.  This only happened when the doubters saw the actual earnings recorded by the beancounters. ES knows what he has $350 million invested in. He is a patient man

I'm thinking everything should happen much faster this time around with NFG's Queensway because everyone involved have the Fosterville model to help guide the geologists. They certainly have a much better understanding of the geology because the Queensway geology is very similar to that discovered at Fosterville. Us investors too should easily be able to see the phenomenal ...more

Megacopper, this is fantastic news for NFG, it really shows how good this property must be. I wonder what the price tag is going to be to bring everything to production?

I have no idea because I'm no expert when it comes to mining. I have spoken to guys who should know and they think it won't be as expensive as what most investors think because the volume of rock that you have to mine is relatively small compared to the number of ounces you get. The average grade of the Swan Zone at its peak was nearly 60 g/t gold or almost two ounces of gold ...more

Mineralization at Fosterville is controlled by late brittle faulting. These late brittle faults are generally steeply west dipping reverse faults with a series of moderately west dipping reverse splay faults formed in the footwall of the main fault. There are also moderately east dipping faults which have become more significant footwall to the anticlinal offsets along the west dipping faults ...more

What is it with you guys and the gabbros? NFG isn't up in Labrador drilling for nickel. Lol Good comparison of geology below. The Rock Doctor says they are finding the gold in dirty old ocean floor sentiments. Greywacke is what they call it. Of course there is other host rocks as well.  https://www.newsfilecorp.com/release/61550/New-Found-Gold-Provides-Update-Summarizes ...more

The similarities between Queensway North and Fosterville are genetic and textural.  The nitty gritty details of fault patterns, gold mineralization and host rocks are going to be deposit specific.  It is important not to overanalyze or overcompare. There is a theory that the gold might originate in seafloor volcanic/plutonic rocks (basalt and gabbro) which got deeply buried by the ...more

There's your answer ike. The gabbros are down deep. Thanks rediredgeo. I'll get a few drinks into the Rock Doctor tonight and get him going on the gabbros. I know back in the Voiseys Bay days he was going on about the olivine gabbros and pendlandtite (nickel) up in Labrador. Lol

I remember the Voisey's Bay play well.  I lost a pile of money betting on juniors who drilled 1000 m holes in magnetic Anorthosite!  When everything was said and done Voisey's Bay was/is a one deposit wonder. A cumulate of Olivine and calcic plagioclase is called Troctolite.  Troctolite was all the rage back then.  I'm sure the rock doctor remembers it.

Geez Mega did you not listen to the lecture by Sean Ryan about the gabros? He talks a good half hour about them and regards them as a good trend to  follow. Him being the head advisor at LAB with a good stake in it along with QH. Being Sean almost singlehandedly responsible for the yukon rush I thought it was worth listening too.  Chemical reaction with tungsten and molten gold or ...more

Yes I remember Shawn Ryan talking about Gabbros but I don't think he was talking about the Queensway property. I think he was talking about the Mt. Peyton intrusive. I can't remember but I don't think there is much in the way of gabbros at Queensway because all I hear is the Rock Doctor going on about how the gold is found in quartz and the host rock is dirty old sendiments ...more

Megacopper, there is gabbro just to the east of the JBL Fault on someone else's property (Gossan Resources I think). There is gabbro east of both the Queensway property of NFG and the Kingsway property of LAB. You can think of FedEx bringing the gabbro, along with the gold, from the mantle, up to near surface (100's of km). FedEx then hands the gabbro over to a local delivery service who ...more

I'm going to disappoint you! The gold bearing fluids followed one deep seated fracture system to surface.  They are not magma related, gabbro or otherwise.  They are collision related (metamorphic/orogenic). The most likely mechanism of transport was a molecular complex with sulphur, soluble, along with silica and carbonate, in superheated water.  When the sulphur complexes ...more

Yes by all accounts Megagold we have 2 burritos for the price of one but usually when they serve you 2 burritos they are beside each other not side by side. I am not complaining but if I were served liked that and one fall on my pants I mite get angry. Anyway we are still not sure if it is an enchillada down there.I myself wonder if this could reoccur at double the depth.Anyway all this ...more
