RE:RE:Re re I'm sure.

RE:RE:Re re I'm sure.Gwad, where do I start? You mentoned WWII so let me correct some of your misconceptions about our respective countrie's participation and roles in that endevour. First, Canada was in the war fighting the Germans and Japanese since Sept 1939. We eventually had 10 % of our population in uniform compared to only 9 % of the US. Not to mention that the Canadians had a greater % of volunteers than conscripts. We were fighting the Battle of the Atlantic with sonar that a Canadian, Reginald Fessenden had invented the precursor to. Meanwhile , the US was staring at it's belly button. We were fighting Nazis (thinning them out for you) in the desert of North Africa, while the US was still playing with itself. At Dieppe, Canada sent 5000 men ashore compared to the US 50. Canadians were the only nation to meet or exceed its objectives on D-Day. Canadians and Brits held back the the vast majority of the German armour while the US licked its wounds and built up for their famous breakout. Ever seen "The Devil's Brigade"? 'Nuf said. And contrary to popular American culture ("U571") it was the British that found and broke the Enigma codes. The vast majority of the German Army was fighting the Russians and my bet is that they would have beaten them given a little more time. The Manhatten Project was made possible by Canadian heavy water from Trail BC, uranium from Port Radium, and refined metal from Port Hope. Canadian bravery, innovation, resources and will to win were an essential part of the Allied effort to beat back the Nazi war effort. If you think it stopped there, think about how many hewers of wood and drawers of water( Canadians) left the cancelled Avro Arrow project and went on to NASA to help put a man on the moon. By the way, the Arrow was perhaps the most technologically advanced aircraft of the Cold War.Bar none. Look it up. I am sure there are pictures.
