All too often the crooks get away with it ;maybe paying a small fine or small payback.
A recent case in 2022 was the settlement of the Tribune Company fraud actions. The executives and others paid like a $100 million dollar setttlement. Now they made BILLIONS off the sale and the banks got stuck and eventually us taxpayers.
So it is like robbing a bank of a million dollars, getting caught, paying maybe $100,000 and getting to keep the rest and laughing all the way.
I have seen enough of regulators being little more than whistle blowers!
