RET bid / ask games
Bid was $1.41 (25 board lots pesumably meaning 2500 shares), ask at $1.59. I put in an order for 10,000 shares at $1.42. Bid immediately, as in not by human hands moves.to $1.43. I change my order to $1.44, and again the second I hit send the bid moves above mine to $1.45. I move to $1.46 and again bid moves immediately above me to $1.47. I stopped at.that point. Cancelled the order. Bid immediately returns to $1.41. I didn't expect to get filled but the automated manipulation going on turned me off. Does anyone buy the voting shares?

" I think you just set a price that you're happy with and let it go." That's pretty much it. Algo traders hate people that do that.

Yes. Lots of games being played on the voting shares. They brought the price down feom 1.60 to 1.21 on less than 2,000 shares over a couple of days. I would hit the ask and my trade would get buried on alternative platforms.

That's just algorythms, someone has an algo in stating to maintain the top bid until x price. Every time you bid, if its below that x price, the algo will up its bid above yours. If you keep upping your bid, eventually you will see the algo will not follow you above its max bid price. Been there, done that

Thanks for the explanation. I ended up picking up some RET.A. It had more volume and appeared to have less of that algo trading going on.

I think what they would need to do first is to get back to the TSX, maybe someone knows the rules on that? I don't think they would buy back shares when on the venture X, nor would they have any dividends, imo

Becoming much more common it seems. Not good for the markets imo. https://stockhouse.com/news/press-releases/2022/10/06/scotiabank-launches-next-gen-algorithmic-trading-platform-with-bestex-research
