When we want to hire a new employee, it takes HR months to find the right person yet according to today's NR, the company is going to select a new CEO to lead the company through the next critical stage over the next few weeks??

I'm assuming they already have somebody chosen or it's narrowed down to a couple of candidates.  Either way it was a stupid way and borderline misleading way to word it in the NR. New management can't come fast enough.  Pat isn't up to the task and Roland is basically the company mascot at this point and his script has been repeated so man times it's played out.
