Note Wellings (then chair) stated Jordaan had 'turned Lihir around'. I already had read the Newcrest quarterlies, and knew Jordaan IMO missed his numbers, so Wellings's statement was the first whiff I got of the coming problem. Wish I'd reacted more quickly.
