If the vertical part comes in on prognosis (ie. high up on structure) then the angle of well could be shallowed and go horizontal through hydrocabon column. Alternatively its a vertical pilot hole, which is logged (to demonstrate movable hydrocarbons), and then plugged and side-tracked into the first horizontal leg. Somebody suggested that the well design had been shared? Maybe I am replaying on old discussion on here, GIven the time on the first vertical well I bet they are already into the horzontal or about to log the pilot hole. Time will tell I guess.
