Alternate Symbol(s):  SSCFF

Smartcool Systems Inc. is a clean technology company. The Company’s products include ECO3 and ESM, which are retrofit technologies that reduce the energy consumption of compressors in air conditioning, refrigeration and heat pump systems (HVAC-R). The ECO3 enhances energy efficiency for one or two compressor or stage systems, including small commercial refrigeration systems and combined heat pump systems - both residential and commercial. The ECO3 interfaces with existing controls and equipment, and installation can be completed in an hour without any system interruption or impact on controlled space conditions. ESM is an advanced energy efficiency retrofit product that saves up to 40% kilowatt-hour energy on compressor operation in air conditioning and refrigeration systems (HVAC-R). It also offers Panoramic Power wireless sensors that deliver granular and actionable energy intelligence, including data from third party meters for gas, heat, water and air to energy strategy.

BIG NEWS

BIG NEWSSmartCool Systems Inc (C-SSC) - News Release SmartCool completes test program of ESM 4000 2005-09-06 15:13 ET - News Release Shares issued 8,612,167 SSC Close 2005-09-02 C$ 0.31 Mr. George Burnes reports In response to a request from a large prospective U.S.-based retail client, SmartCool Systems Inc., in association with Abbotly USA, has completed a controlled test program of the Energy Savings Module System 4000 (ESM 4000). This test program was undertaken by Oak Ridge National Laboratories, an arm of the U.S. Department of Energy at the Lennox R & D facility in Carrollton, Tex. The test program was designed to ascertain the effectiveness of the ESM 4000 in reducing the power consumption of air conditioning compressors. To this end, the ESM 4000 was installed on a 21-ton Lennox commercial rooftop air conditioning unit with four scroll compressors. The objectives of the test program were to quantify the reduction in energy consumption of the HVAC unit attributable to the ESM 4000, compare compressor cycle rates with and without the ESM 4000, and to monitor indoor room temperature with and without the ESM 4000. The rooftop unit was tested in baseline configuration and with the ESM 4000. The cooling load imposed on the unit was the same for both scenarios and the outdoor temperature was controlled to simulate a representative summer day cycle for all tests. The following summarize the results attributable to the installation of the ESM 4000 for high cooling demands: * kilowatt hour (kWh) percentage reduction of approximately 8 per cent on the rooftop HVAC unit; * kWh percentage reduction of approximately 10 per cent on the compressors only; and * reduction in cycling rates of approximately 6 per cent for compressors one and two and almost 40 per cent for compressors three and four. The above data have been reported on an "as corrected" basis to equal indoor room temperatures for both scenarios. This controlled test independently verifies the energy savings that are directly attributable to the installation of the ESM 4000. Additionally, it illustrates the dramatic decrease in cycle rates of the compressors, which correspond to a longer life cycle for existing compressors resulting in lower replacement costs. The company is very pleased with these results as it will now allow SmartCool to provide prospective clients with independently verified analyses of the ESM 4000's energy savings. Most clients require such verification prior to embarking on the purchase or consideration of energy savings technologies. These results further reinforce the company's ability to provide cost-effective energy savings to potential clients throughout its distribution region. When these results are considered with the costs of equipment, the company is in a position to offer proposals that will be attractive to most companies' ROI requirements for energy saving technologies. We seek Safe Harbor.
