Theralase Technologies Inc. > Where did the money go?

Where did the money go?

It's been 1 year since the financing.

They have spent approximately $1,912,500 per quarter for the last 4 quarters.  We knew they had payments to make Sigma Aldrich to make the formula, deals with the test sites, a deal with Alphora Research, see bottom.

I do not think the spending is unusual.

I do however really question the ammount of hiring they were looking to do before covid shut that down.  Most seemed to be for the cold laser.  I don't see how we could have hired all those people and be in a good cash position to finish the trial.  They keep saying the sale of TLC-1000 and 2000 lasers will finance the ACT but they keep losing money selling lasers.

The focus should totally be on the ACT.

Hi Jaro1977 - When the 17 million was raised we were told that they had enough to finish the phase, 2 which was projected to end in May 2022. Now we are being told the money will run out in August 2021. So what happened? I thought they were taking measures to conserve money, not spend more. From the MD&A: "The company closed a public offering of Units for gross proceeds of $17,250,000 ...more

i am surprised they haven't burned thru more. We all knew they would have to do another raise at some point, hopefully they will hav covid and phase 2 results by the end of the year so it will b @ a much higher price w more institutional investors. If they don't produce anything positive by nov/dec, I think we will see a lot of ppl dumping, including myself as they can't wait until ...more

Goldie I agree, I actually think they need to give us some details on what the Covid 19 might give them in grant money $$ at the AGM. I'm assuming 1433, what they have discovered about it, will give them excellent Covid 19 results at the U of M. Dr. Coombs should be able to get grant money for it. At the least TLT won't be spending money there next year. And yes SP should be much higher ...more

Just remember--Mr. coombs  said he should have results in october.
Comment by Eoganacht on Aug 29, 2020 11:26am
Preliminary research results in October. Small animal research in 2021 and maybe begin a human trial before the end of 2021.
Comment by StevenBirch on Aug 29, 2020 11:54am
To date we have done better with preliminary research results than human trials.
Comment by NeilPaert74 on Aug 29, 2020 2:36pm
I wouldn't be surprised if things moved a bit faster, certainly not TLT speed, lol. But Covid 19 speed, as is warranted.
Comment by Hempdoc on Aug 29, 2020 6:48pm
Hi Neil...Dr. Coombs (his specialty is in virology...good for us) has received multiple grants in the past 5 yrs & has recently received a generous grant towards the fight against Covid-19 from CIHR (Canadian Institutes of Health Research). Between this & what TLT provided (my guess 500K to 1M), we should be good to go through next year w/o the need for further funding by TLT as you said.  ...more

Yep Doc, I feel we are in good hands with RP and Dr. Sherri and Dr. Coombs. That they could do enough to get TLT grant money, move share price. I worry that current management wont do enough to get us off this Vulture xchange, where we will continue to bounce on the floor, due to manipulation... That does weigh on my sanity. Whats left of it.
Comment by Hempdoc on Aug 29, 2020 8:55pm
Yah...the TSX would be a start, but not certain we even have the minimum cash flow to qualify? But very excited about RP,  Dr. Coombs & Dr. Sherri.  These partnerships will give us a much needed boost & potentially save us a boatload in $$/dilution down the road.   Re: Dr. Commbs, my guess is he will be testing (if he hasn't already) TLD-1633 & possibly other ...more

I dunno Doc, I'm thinking something Lang brought up might be the way to go, instead of focusing on all of that other stuff, maybe TLT starts with anti-aging? I mean that way we can all still be around when our investment pays off. ;-)
Comment by Hempdoc on Aug 29, 2020 9:13pm
TLT & anti-aging is quite the oxymoron; )...I'm afraid not even my grandkids would benefit from an anti-aging study by "TLT"...

And what gets recognition and money for a 'drug'? Blood thinners!!?? "According to a news release from the U of M, the six researchers are investigating the impacts of the virus on certain populations, such as children, newcomers and First Nations. so blood thinners get almost half of that federal grant? Doesn; surprise me with this govt. And yes Hempdoc, I agree, it likely one of the Big Pharma players at the end of that money trail. Let's hope Dr. Coombs can provide some 'over the top' research initial results by October that would support another chunk of research funding to be doled out.

I beleive they have to pay Mackie and Maxim for their services and that would take the number down.  The laser part is where I see an issue. This is a losing proposition and will continiue going forward. I guess RDW will continue to push this forward. Love to know why we pay the CEO as his salary could be used for other things. Just have no one in that role as it does not matter anyway ...more
Comment by NeilPaert74 on Aug 29, 2020 9:40am
Well, the financing only gave them ~ $15Mil to start with, the rest went to Mackie/Maxim. So they have spent ~$6Mil. have ~ $9Mil left. I'm guessing they will focus efforts on Phase 2 in Canada where it is less costly. Also, seems Dr. Sherri is dragging them across the finish line by the nose. She is arranging Phase 1s in Melanoma and NSCLC, not bad.  The Covid 19 angle is interesting ...more
