ideaguy, your stats are short sighted.  Zoom out to the beginning when the unit nav was $25 and now it's 15.  They paid out too much (like every split) and now bounce along the bottom. A ...more

My comment is to say this is a good entry price, should DFN not pay a div, then great! We can average down. I personally think somehow, someway they're going to pump this up just enough to pay div ...more

I realize they didn't have any US Companies.  I was only refering to the fact that TSX really trades aimlessly without the influence of the US market and it will be closed on Wednesday.

DFN doesn't have any US based companies in their holdings; Maybe you're confusing it with FTN which has 5 large US financials; DFN has the 5 large Canadian banks, 3 insurance financials, 3 ...more

I don't know how you justify paying around $5.05 and the NAV will be around $14.65 or so.  If & when Quadravest announces not paying next month the share price will most likely tank & ...more

They're likely going to pay the dividend.... I highly doubt they'll have another missed div payment. This is a great entry price. Even better if it goes down but I'll accumulate here ...more

I am not too comfortable comparing DFN (and by association DF and LFE) with the general markets because these funds are solely based on banks, insurances and very little more while the general market ...more

June 14 NAV is ~$14.73

My spreadsheet is showing a mid-month NAV of $14.733 with an estimated $33M (1.78%), plus the preferred shares dividend,to recover for next month...

DFN unit nav to June 14 = approx: $14.76

So a bit of a bounce back as a few holdings turned green, And Loblaws went ex-divvy today..and that was added in. Value of the commons are $4.76 and unless we  see a HARD bounce back up ...more
