One should keep i mind that not long ago the share traded at 8 cents. Fifty percent gain in two months is pretty good. Sell on news is a common strategy.

We tend to forget USD vs CAD. Deals usually refers to USD and the share is based on CAD. The conversion factor is usually 1.33 hence 0.48 cents in the example given.
