That is because the company had done extensive work on Pierina via pits and tunnels. The tunnels were over 100 meters deep. They only needed a few drill holes to confirm the deposit that was already defined by the tunnels.
Pierina was (is) an amazing epithermal deposit. Low cost and high grade. The only other deposit that I recall that exceeded Pierina was the Fruta Del Norte (Aurelian).
