Results were ok; the best is yet to comeBut the saddest part is that the 11 consecutive yoy quarterly record growth ended, and unlike sports records where someone else breaks your record, GSI did it all on their own. Revenue fell a bit short.
I remain very positive on GSI's future as I believe in Doug. He has grown the company, he has pivoted into opportunities he feels present themselves, he has taken calculated risks (ITSS). He is adding key board members, so doing all the right things imo. Plus, as a person, admittedly, only seeing him on youtube videos, he comes across as trustworthy, well spoken, personable and likeable, which i admire and am sure our clients do as well given the growing repeat business with existing clients.
BTW, I haven't given up on ITSS. The only two people I know who got covid19 are my sons' girfriends parents and both had a fever. I acknowledge that the covid19/fever stats may say otherwise, but it may also be a device that give a level of comfort to people, and when used with other measures adds to the overall safety.
As noted by Doug and other posters here:
"The first half of fiscal 2021 was another period of record-breaking revenue, and over the past five years our first-half revenue has consistently represented between 27% and 35% of our full-year revenue," commented Doug Dyment, President and CEO. "Our backlog and sales pipeline remain strong in both the transit and school markets and we are winning new customers and booking repeat business from existing customers in a business model we describe as recurring-customer business.
I think the best is yet to come. More specifically, as a bonus, as USA and Canadian governments begin infusing billions of extra dollars into the economy, GSI will participate in this growth. It won't happen overnight, but i see steady growth.
Am I buying more shares? Not now (unless it dips bigtime). I try to keep my average stock holding in the 2-7% range with a few exceptions. GSI is one of those with an overweight position at 11%. It was as high as 30% following that dip to the low 50's a few months back but I trimmed later on the run up.
Other challenges remain: being on the TSXV; limited exposure, no analyst coverage.
