When the share price is lower than I think it should be, I buy more shares. That creates a little demand for the shares, tempers price swings, and I get load up on shares of a great company at a discount in my opinion. When positive news comes out and the share price doesn't move, I buy more shares for the same reason. Pretty simple if-then game plan to follow if you like the stock.
If someone tries to trigger a stop loss by selling at a low price, that's manipulative. But it's not just a buying opportunity for market makers, all investors can put in a purchase order at a bargain limit price and capitalize on that. I'm sure some have.
