The Romero mining site in the province of San Juan can be exploited without causing damage to the environment, as considered by the chemical engineer and leader of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM), Ramn Alburquerque.
"That's a totally different mining and that's from sky to earth, because that's underground, 150 meters deep," said the mining expert.
He considered that Romero could be the largest gold deposit in all of America, because there is a fit of about three million ounces of gold.
Alburquerque stressed that it would be the first mining project in the Central Range, because the other mines are in the Sierra de Yamas.
Ramn Alburquerque said that with regard to Romero's gold exploration, a lot of lies is being talked about. "Now those of us who know about that are going to start talking."
It meant that in the Dominican Republic there are only six to eight mining projects in operation, so Romero can be developed in San Juan without any fear.
The concession of the Romero mine is held by the Canadian company GoldQuest Mining Corporation and in 2018 received the approval of the Ministry of Energy and Mines, but it needs the authorization of the President of the Republic to start the operation.
