. It is characterized by quartzose sandstones and is considered to be the deposits of a Lower Cretaceous fluvio-deltaic complex

. The Ellerslie Member is divided into two main units:
  1. Upper Ellerslie: Fine-grained sand with sandy shale and shaley sand lenses
  2. Lower Ellerslie: Medium-grained quartz sand, siltstone, and coal

The Ellerslie Member has a maximum thickness of about 40 meters (130 feet) for the upper unit and 30 meters (100 feet) for the lower unit
