Logical out come for Romero
The population of SJM back the study at 67%.LA can not ignore that heading into an election. He also does not need a messy arbitration ahead of his election. His rep in SJM stated the gov of LA will do the study so its outcome will be done by the gov and be free of influence by anybody.
So logic says the permit will come in this year.Barrick is committed to find more gold in the DR and is exploring its and PRGs properties. But Romero is proven to be very robuts in economics with a 3 million oz 43-101.So its possible Barrick lobbies the LA gov to grant the study giving Barrick a front row seat to make an offer to GQC before the study is finished. In other words if the politics favour Barrick owning Romero as it is already the most important tax payer in the DR.
AEM would not likely step in front of Barrick in the DR due to the past politics that is still today holding up the permit and let Barrick get Romero and then they could exit the DR and move on.Barrick would get Romero and the Cachimbo discovery that attracted AEM in the first place. My thinking is some kind of an outcome will be needed so LA can spew his "mining friendly" agenda that helped him get elected last time once again.
Logic is a dirty word in the DR.But Barrick building a second mine in the DR is something LA could use to address job creation. If Romero gets its permit GQC could be in play in a blink of an eye and give Fisher ARU like cudos for GQC shareholders.
Also of note Barricks CEO Bristow says they will be active in M&A in the JR space in 2023.
