LCBO Strike date July 5

If the LCBO union does go on strike on July 5 I think this would be a positive for Peller. With the LCBO closed the only wines availble for purchase in Ontario would be those in the supermarket outlets and vineyard stores. Although it may be a positive for Peller it's more difficult to assess the impact on the bottom line.

Poor over worked &  under paid LCBO staff.... they must need some help from outside sources  IMO   ;>(

Off topic but I just returned from a vacation in Japan and there you can buy a cold beer from an outdoor vending machine alongside yogurt drinks, water and pop. Like in Europe there are no liquor stores. You can buy a bottle of Ballantine's Scotch or Suntory whiskey in a drugstore or convenience store for less than $12 CAD. People here need to get a grip on where alcohol can be sold.

I don't care where it's being sold. I do care that a government makes a deal then breaks it, incurring hundreds of millions of dollars in compensation to the other party, when we still have lead in public school drinking fountains.

OT: we can live without the LCBOntario and the Ont govt will still collect ALL the due taxes & producers get there dues... No matter where it is sold..maybe even cheaper with the loss of the  unions high  cost of managing the distribution  system of product..  side note > we also get our wine direct from  source with free delivery on any order over 100$$  (wife ...more

It's been some time since I was there but I remember hard liquor in vending machines ( shut off after 12am) and a beer coming out of a machine upside down with no bad effects.

LCBO strike has started. Net benefit to Andrew Peller? Can they benefit with having the Wine Shops with a prolonged strike? I hope so. Good opportunity for some well placed advertising.
