Dashboard Update - Sept 15, 2024

Hi all, I made enhancements to the overview table at the top of the dashboard (https://dupli.ca/ffn).

I removed the lines that showed Fund Value (Class A Portion) and Fund Value (Preferred Portion) because I'm showing the total fund value anyway, and breaking it down wasn't that useful.

I added two new lines called FFN Stock Trading Price and FFN Stock Price Delta.

FFN Stock Trading Price will show the trading price at close for the first column (historical data) and the current trading price for the current data column (updates at the same frequency as all the other stocks on the dashboard).

FFN Stock Price Delta will show the difference between the NAV (or estimated NAV) and the FFN Stock Trading Price. If it's in red, FFN is trading at a premium. If it's in green, FFN is trading at a discount.

Thanks to CDNINV1 for the suggestion back a few days ago!

MAXJAC,  Thanks on you work on this and for sharing .  Very informative. How often do the stock price update on this webpage?   Is it by the day? hour? minute ? Or? Appologies if I am asking something you answered previously Bomas

Glad to know you like it! Stock prices update Monday to Friday from 9AM to 4:30PM at the hour mark and at the 30 minute mark. You can see the date and time of the last update in the blue bubble under the overview table. Exchange rate updates all day long, each hour at the 59 minute mark during weekdays only.

CAD/USD Exchange Rate 1.35965 1.35460 * estimated value Exchange rate as of Sep 20, 2024 - 9:59AM Eastern Just noticed this appears to be the 8:59 AM  on the Forex graph. Only noticed this because of the dramatic 1 hour change.  Is it Daylight Saving change ?

Good question. I use openexchangerates.org and the rates are updated hourly. I'm assuming that if I fetch the rates at 9:59AM, then those are rates that were updated around 9:00AM so they're already old. Let me check. I might run this at the 1 minute mark then to give them a chance to run their updates and then immediately grab the latest rate for the dashboard. I'll have to look at ...more

Your welcome. Hope it is an easy fix !

The dashboard has been updated to extract the exchange rate at the 1-minute mark instead of the 59-minute mark. I think that will do it but I'm waiting to hear back from openexchangerates.org to confirm that they update at the 00 minute mark. If that's the case, then fetching the rates at the 1-minute mark will give us the best available rate as close to "live" as possible.

I received confirmation from openexchangerates.org that the rates are updated at the 0-minute mark so this is good and the dashboard will always get the latest rates by running just after at the 1-minute mark.
