Got a margin call this morning for $8552

First my account was down $20,000 this morning, now I'm up $20,000 so I won't have to deal with the margin. Wild roller-coaster.

Never had a margin account but I've always wondered is a margin call a friendly reminder emailed to you Or is it a phone call from some Italian guy named Tony?
