Most US producers didn't do this and are now playing catch up - see EQT and Chesapeake Energy presentations and press releases. Otherwise you are still getting HH pricing +/- basis. And of course there is no correlation between local prices and global prices ( the exporter benefits when local prices are low and export high...).

My guess is it's a very profitable business.

btw, the GM of Shell LNG/natural gas just resigned to go work for some trading company. You guess trading what.
