I was surprised to get buy more at this price with the dividend of $1.25 a share on January 25 money in the bank.
Comment by Zaphod on Jan 21, 2022 10:47pm
Unfortunately I expect it will drop 2 on Monday
Comment by GunnerG on Jan 23, 2022 12:59pm
Care to explain why you think a $2 drop in share price?

Perhaps I wasn't the only one that got mixed up on the x div date. I had marked down the record day as the 25th, not the 24th. So you had to have the stock on Thursday; Friday was the x. Anyway, I had the stock so all's well as far as I'm concerned. Monday the stock might bounce back a bit. GLTA.

Hey Fish, I thought the settlement period was now only 2 business days such that those folks who purchased on Friday would be shareholders of record on the 25th. Not positive but thought I would add my two cents.  Regardless, go Tourmaline!
Comment by Cheadle12 on Jan 23, 2022 5:17pm
Yep, if you bought TOU shares on Friday, you get the dividend on the 1st.   If you buy Monday, you do not.
Comment by Cheadle12 on Jan 23, 2022 5:18pm
Check with your lender, your transaction if you bought any more shares on Friday, if you did, it should show "Settlement date January 25th, 2022".. meaning, you get the dividend.
Comment by GunnerG on Jan 23, 2022 10:28pm
I believe you are correct Hoover, you bought on Friday, you get the dividend. I had it messed up and thought the drop in SP on Friday was because you wouldn't get it and held off buying.  Missed opportunity for me, damn. Exdividend would be Jan 24th.
Comment by Zaphod on Jan 24, 2022 10:51am
You didn't miss anything  The stock is dropped well more than the 1.25... You were lucky you didn't buy Friday. I picked up 4000 today at 42.10 and still missed the low by a dollar....

I admit I bought too soon on Frday. Picked up a few more todat. Way oversold IMHO. Natural gas prices nolding up nicely. Actually up 3.89%. This is not an oil company despite the name. GLTA
