Dividends Nov 2023

Will I get dividends if I bought today on October 20? Thanks

The ex-dividend date for the $1.00 special dividend is Monday, Oct 23. If you bought TOU shares today, you should receive the dividend. https://www.theglobeandmail.com/investing/markets/stocks/TOU-T/dividends/ If a trader purchases a stock on its ex-dividend date or after, they will not receive the next dividend payment. https://www.investopedia.com/terms/e/ex-dividend.asp#:~:text=The ...more

You will get the 1.00 but the share price will probably go down by the same

Yes, normally the share price goes down once the x date arrives. But I also expect Tourmaline might gain again quickly as they also report Q3 results on November 1. When they announced the acquisition of Bonaventure they hinted at a good quarter just past.

Checkmate that might be the normal case, but this special dividend feels definitely very different. With cool weather turning up we will enjoy the dividend payment on November 1 and a higher stock price than the ex dividend day stock price. Best of fortunes for all patient Tou shareholders and worst of luck to all investors and hedge funds shorting Tou.

Right on!  I love Tourmaline's report concerning the Bonavista acquisition. They said, "continued strong financial forecast for 2H 2023, as well as anticipated sustainable FCF coupled with Tourmaline's low-cost structure."  That's music I like.
