MCLEAN, Va., Jan. 14, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) [NYSE: SAI] announced it was awarded a prime contract by the U.S. Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center (SSC) Atlantic to provide production, installation and in-services support for command, control, communications, computers, combat systems, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (C5ISR) capabilities for subsurface and surface platforms. The multiple-award, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract has a one-year base period of performance, four one-year options, and a total contract value of approximately $899 million if all options are exercised, for all awardees.

SSC Atlantic's engineering centers support the U.S. Department of Defense and other federal agencies. Its primary mission is to provide cybersecurity, adaptive response, and engineering excellence by delivering secure, integrated, and innovative solutions to U.S. naval, joint, and national agencies.

Under the contract, SAIC will provide production, installation, in-service support, life-cycle logistics, training, and large-scale integration efforts to deliver and sustain superior C5ISR mission capabilities for surface, shore and sub-surface platforms. In addition, the company will provide and support enterprise engineering, test planning and execution to enable delivery and acceptance of integrated systems in support of operational C5ISR capability requirements.  SAIC is one of seven contractors eligible to compete for task orders under the contract.

"We look forward to providing SSC Atlantic with expertise in production, installation, life-cycle logistics, training, and large-scale integration capabilities," said Jim Thigpen, SAIC senior vice president and business unit general manager. "SAIC welcomes the opportunity to continue to deliver and sustain superior C5ISR mission capabilities."
