Transmission Line Construction Project Linking Davis-Besse Power Station and Substation Near Sandusky

WHAT:

Minimizing wetland impact by using helicopters to string new high voltage transmission lines between towers

Dramatic photo opportunities will be available showing workers on helicopter platforms attaching new transmission lines.

WHEN:

Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at 10:30 a.m.

WHERE:

Construction Staging Area, County Road 216 and County Road 261, Riley, Ohio

Map: http://tinyurl.com/mwjcpoq

From the intersection of County Roads 216 and 261, take the gravel access road east for about 0.7 miles and park along the side of the road

WHY:

This 138 kilovolt transmission line will be installed on existing towers that run from the Davis Besse Nuclear Power Plant to a new substation on Route 4 in Sandusky County, a distance of about 30 miles.

While some of the towers along the route are accessible from the ground, several of the towers are located in sensitive wetland areas, and accessing these towers from the air minimizes the environmental impact of the work.
