TORONTO, Aug. 12, 2013 /CNW/ - CI Investments Inc. ("CI") today
announced the launch of Cambridge Global Dividend Fund, a new
investment solution for investors seeking the benefits of a globally
diversified portfolio of high-quality dividend-paying companies.
The objective of Cambridge Global Dividend Fund is to achieve a high
level of total investment return, consisting of dividend income and
capital gains, by primarily investing in equities of companies anywhere
in the world that pay, or may be expected to pay, dividends. The fund's
focus is on dividend growth and sustainability in order to provide a
source of inflation protection for investors. The portfolio advisor is
Cambridge Global Asset Management.
The fund pays a monthly distribution. It is also available as Cambridge
Global Dividend Corporate Class, which does not pay a regular
distribution but offers the tax efficiency of the CI Corporate Class
structure.
"The strong performance of global equity markets over the past two and a
half years underlines the benefits for Canadian investors of foreign
diversification," said Derek J. Green, CI President. "With its emphasis
on large and stable dividend-paying firms, Cambridge Global Dividend
Fund provides a lower-risk approach to accessing the growth and income
of global equities. In addition, the fund offers the proven expertise
of the Cambridge team, which has built an exceptional track record of
performance in its global and Canadian portfolios."
Robert Swanson, Principal and Portfolio Manager at Cambridge, is lead
portfolio manager of the fund. His 30-year investment career includes
managing global equity, income and balanced portfolios. Prior to
joining Cambridge in 2011, he worked at Fidelity Investments, where he
was lead manager of several mutual funds with combined assets under
management exceeding $20 billion.
The Cambridge team manages over $7 billion in assets, has offices in
Boston and Toronto, and is led by Chief Investment Officer Alan Radlo.
Mr. Radlo has over 30 years of investment experience and joined CI in
2008 to found the Cambridge team. Prior to that, he was a portfolio
manager at Fidelity Investments, where he was responsible for
approximately $10 billion in assets.
