TORONTO, Aug. 11, 2014 /CNW/ - CI Investments Inc. ("CI") today announced the launch of Cambridge Growth Companies Corporate Class, a new investment solution that focuses on high-growth small and medium-sized companies from around the world.

The objective of the fund is to provide long-term capital growth by investing primarily in common shares of companies located anywhere in the world. The portfolio advisor is Cambridge Global Asset Management, a division of CI with offices in Toronto and Boston.

"Cambridge Growth Companies Corporate Class represents the best ideas in global growth investing from one of Canada's top-performing portfolio management groups," said Derek J. Green, CI President. "The Cambridge team has a proven track record of performance across its fund lineup, most notably in its highly successful Canadian growth funds."

Cambridge Canadian Growth Companies Fund and Cambridge Pure Canadian Equity Fund were the top-performing funds in their respective categories for the calendar year 2012 and for the three years ending June 30, 2014.*

Cambridge Growth Companies Corporate Class will have a concentrated portfolio of 35 to 40 companies that are characterized by being best-in-class businesses with high levels of growth and high returns on invested capital. As a global equity fund, it will provide investors with exposure to growing companies in sectors that are not well represented in the Canadian market.

"With a focus on quality companies and downside protection, the Cambridge managers expect to manage and reduce the volatility that is often equated with small and mid-cap growth funds," said Mr. Green. "In fact, the strong performance of their Canadian growth funds has been achieved with below-average volatility for their categories."

Cambridge manages over $12 billion in assets in a broad selection of mandates, including income, Canadian, U.S. and global equity, Canadian asset allocation, and Canadian, U.S. and global dividend funds. The team is led by Co-Chief Investment Officers Alan Radlo and Brandon Snow and Chief Market Strategist Robert Swanson.

The Lead Portfolio Manager of Cambridge Growth Companies Corporate Class is Greg Dean, CFA, who is also co-lead manager of Cambridge Pure Canadian Equity Fund (along with Stephen Groff) and co-manager of Cambridge Canadian Growth Companies Fund. Mr. Dean joined Cambridge in 2011 and was named a TopGun Investment Mind by Brendan Wood International in 2012 and 2013.

Mr. Snow is co-manager of the fund. He has 11 years of investment experience, joined Cambridge in 2011 and was named Co-Chief Investment Officer in 2014. He is Lead Portfolio Manager of several of Cambridge's Canadian portfolios, including Cambridge Canadian Equity Corporate Class, Cambridge Canadian Asset Allocation Corporate Class, Cambridge Canadian Dividend Fund, and Cambridge Canadian Growth Companies Fund.
