Tyler Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: TYL) has signed a seven year
software-as-a-service (SaaS) agreement with Altamonte Springs, Florida,
for Tyler’s EnerGov®
planning, permitting and licensing and Munis®
enterprise resources planning (ERP) solutions to create efficiency by
moving from about a dozen disparate systems to one integrated approach
with Tyler. The agreement includes related professional services,
training and support.
EnerGov and Munis support the city’s desire to consolidate systems for
financial management, human resources, community development, and
infrastructure services, while creating greater access to services for
the residents of Altamonte Springs.
“We have several different systems that don’t talk to each other very
well, and that effectively segregates our different departments and
business functions. We chose Tyler because they can provide all the
services we need under one umbrella,” said Altamonte Springs Deputy
Finance Director Cam McCoy. “We also wanted to avoid moving to a system
that would require lots of customization or modifications. The things we
would have expected to modify actually come with Tyler’s standard
package, and that eliminates a lot of complexity from the equation.”
The city chose core Munis applications, including general finance
management processes, infrastructure work order and inventory services
and human capital management applications, to help city employees across
all levels access the tools they need to complete their tasks.
EnerGov will also help Altamonte Springs reduce labor-intensive and
redundant procedures through more intuitive and streamlined business
processes associated with permitting, planning, zoning, code enforcement
and other specified functions.
“The city wanted more advanced technology that gives residents online
access to services and helps us be more efficient in our jobs. And
because we will be using electronic documents, we see savings, not only
in paper costs, but also in equipment purchases and from efficiencies
like one-time document scanning versus making multiple photocopies,”
said McCoy. “In Altamonte Springs, we always try to do things the right
way and the most efficient way. We felt it was time to make that big
leap ahead in technology, and we believe we’ve done that with the
solutions from Tyler Technologies.”
Altamonte Springs has a history of using hosted technology and stressed
that requirement as part of its detailed competitive review process. By
having Tyler host the EnerGov and Munis solutions from its data centers,
the city will have lower upfront costs and reduced strain on its IT
personnel.
“Altamonte Springs is widely viewed as a progressive local government,
not only in Florida but nationwide, so we’re very excited to be working
with the city. We expect to help the city achieve its goals for more
efficient citizen service while streamlining business processes,
especially between departments,” said Chris Hepburn, senior vice
president of Tyler’s ERP & School Division.
