Tyler Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: TYL) has signed a contract with Harris
County, Texas, to implement Tyler’s Odyssey®
court case management system at the county clerk’s office. The agreement
is valued at $3.5 million and Odyssey will replace the office’s legacy
solution for civil, probate and mental health cases. Harris County is
the third most populous county in the U.S., with more than 4.4 million
residents, and is home to the city of Houston.
“The Harris County Clerk’s Office constantly strives toward excellence
by implementing the most innovative and proven technology throughout the
office,” said Harris County Clerk Stan Stanart. “After careful
consideration, we determined that Tyler’s Odyssey product is the best in
the industry at this time and for the foreseeable future. We fully
expect Odyssey to bring increased effectiveness and efficiency to our
courts, while keeping pace with the latest technology necessary to
support the third largest county in the United States.”
The Harris County Clerk’s Office selected Odyssey because of the
system’s ability to be configured to meet the office’s business goals
without requiring custom development, because it has proven
functionality that works for Texas county clerk processes, and because
of Tyler’s track record of successful implementations and financial
stability.
In addition to core Odyssey functionality, the clerk’s office chose to
implement Odyssey SessionWorks® Judge Edition to present case
information on the bench via touch-screen technology. The county also
selected Tyler’s public access portal to make case records and court
dockets available via the clerk’s website. Odyssey is fully integrated
with the state’s mandated e-filing platform for civil cases,
eFileTexas.govTM, for which Tyler is the statewide
infrastructure provider.
“Texas counties are choosing Odyssey because it’s a proven, long-term
solution that can scale to meet their unique needs,” said Bruce Graham,
president of Tyler’s Courts & Justice Division. “We’re excited to expand
our partnership with Harris County as part of our commitment to serving
court systems of all sizes in Texas.”
Tyler has proven its ability to meet similar needs in complex projects,
including statewide Odyssey implementations and other high-volume
jurisdictions such as Clark County, Nevada, home to Las Vegas, as well
as Miami-Dade County, Florida. Odyssey was also recently selected by the
Los Angeles Superior Court, which is the largest court system in the U.S.
In total, Odyssey serves more than 100 million residents, a third of the
U.S. population, in more than 600 counties across 21 states. Odyssey has
been successfully deployed statewide in Indiana, Minnesota, New
Hampshire, New Mexico, North Dakota and South Dakota; statewide
implementations in Idaho, Maryland, Oregon, Rhode Island and Washington
are currently underway.
