The fans have spoken and RiffTrax.com has listened. Based on
overwhelming fan demand, Fathom Events, RiffTrax and IGN are thrilled to
announce multiple RiffTrax events --all at once-- to keep fans laughing
throughout the year. “RiffTrax
LIVE 2015,” will consist of a series of four “classics”
to be lambasted by the men of RiffTrax -- Michael J. Nelson, Kevin
Murphy and Bill Corbett (best known for the groundbreaking “Mystery
Science Theater 3000”). Kicking off the series will be
RiffTrax Live: The Room on May 6 and May 12;
followed by RiffTrax
Live: Sharknado 2: The Second One on July 9 and July 16; RiffTrax
Live: Miami Connection comes to cinemas on
October 1 and October 6; and the series concludes with a holiday
favorite, RiffTrax
Live: Santa and the Ice Cream Bunny on
December 3 and December 15.
Fans recently contributed through a Kickstarter
campaign to help RiffTrax reach their base goal of $75,000 in just 8
hours in order to riff four great films live in 2015. Many great rewards
are still up for grabs until March 21.
Tickets for “RiffTrax LIVE 2015”are available at participating
theater box offices and online at www.FathomEvents.com.
The event will be presented in select movie theaters around the country
through Fathom’s Digital
Broadcast Network. For a complete list of theater locations and
prices, visit the Fathom Events website (theaters and participants
are subject to change).
"Much like the '27 Yankees -- or perhaps more like 'The Three Stooges'
in their latter days, with Curly Joe Derita, we feel like we have the
perfect line-up in place for 2015,” Michael J. Nelson of RiffTrax said.
RiffTrax
Live: The Room -- Thursday, May 6 at
8pm ET/ 7pm CT and tape-delayed to 7pm MT/ 8pm PT/HI/AK and an encore
presentation on Tuesday, May 12 at 7:30pm (local time):
If there were ever a movie tailor-made for the RiffTrax guys, “The Room”
is it! Perhaps the most baffling and hilarious independent film ever
produced, “The Room” has won legions of fans around the world and become
a favorite at festivals and midnight screenings! It, kind of, tells the
story of a San Francisco bank employee (played by writer/director/auteur
Tommy Wiseau) whose fiancée seduces Tommy’s best friend. This tears him
apart, causing him to: put on a tuxedo, toss a football with his weird
neighbor, have long puzzling rooftop discussions, and eventually, throw
a very light TV out his own window.
RiffTrax
Live: Sharknado
2: The Second One -- Thursday, July 9 at 8pm ET/ 7pm
CT and tape-delayed to 7pm MT/ 8pm PT/HI/AK and an encore
presentation on Thursday, July 16 at 7:30pm (local time):
The first RiffTrax “Sharknado: Live” event was a smash-success garnering
rave reviews. Don’t miss your chance to see Mike, Kevin and Bill in
theaters nationwide as they button up their raincoats and go headlong
into “Sharknado 2: The Second One.” This time the titular weather event
hits the city of New York, right as all the gruff and busy inhabitants
are trying to walk, over here! Internal shark chain-sawer Ian Ziering is
back, along with Tara Reid as his ex-wife who kind of likes him now,
ever since her douche-y boyfriend got eaten by a shark in their living
room. And no famous landmark is safe from the shark’s wrath, including
perennially grumpy New Yorker Judd Hirsch.
RiffTrax
Live: Miami
Connection -- Thursday, October 1 at 8pm ET/ 7pm CT
and tape-delayed to 7pm MT/ 8pm PT/HI/AK and an encore
presentation on Tuesday, October 6 at 7:30pm (local time):
If you put everything about the 80s in a blender and then ran the
results through a translator that only speaks languages from another
dimension, what you’d wind up with still wouldn't be half as hilarious,
weird and oddly charming as “Miami Connection.” Plot-wise, this one
takes place in 1987 as cocaine- trafficking motorcycle ninjas are making
life difficult in Florida. A rock band called Dragon Sound, who all know
martial arts, step in to save the day. Led by a 9th degree
Taekwondo black belt (played by actual black belt Y.K. Kim, who also
co-wrote and co-directed the movie), Dragon Sound all live together in a
big house and perform songs with intimidating titles like “Friends”
(seriously, the scene where they perform “Friends” is not to be missed).
RiffTrax
Live: Santa
and the Ice Cream Bunny -- Thursday, December 3 at
8pm ET/ 7pm CT and tape-delayed to 7pm MT/ 8pm PT/HI/AK and an encore
presentation on Tuesday, December 15 at 7:30pm (local time):
One of the strangest Christmas movies ever made, “Santa and The Ice
Cream Bunny” defies logic, reason and several laws of physics. In a
warped nutshell: Santa’s sleigh is stuck on the beach, and only one
creature can help him: The Ice Cream Bunny! Co-starring a pig, a
sweltering man in a gorilla suit, magic beans and soiled Santa costumes,
“Santa and the Ice Cream Bunny” is one of the most popular RiffTrax
titles of all time and a bona fide holiday classic.
Fathom Events CEO John Rubey said, “The RiffTrax crew has consistently
created some of our most beloved events. Thanks to their comedic genius,
comedy fans nationwide have an awesome second half of 2015 ahead of
them.”
***Editor Note: Michael J. Nelson, Kevin Murphy and/or Bill Corbett will
be available for select telephone, radio and television press
interviews, as well as Tommy Wiseau of “The Room.”
