TROY, Mich., Aug. 29, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Kelly Services (Nasdaq: KELYA) (Nasdaq: KELYB), a global leader in providing workforce solutions, announces the
appointment of Al Sowers to vice president and practice leader of Teachers On Call, a Kelly Services company. Teachers On Call (TOC) provides substitute teacher
staffing services for K-12 public, private and charter schools, and early child care centers in Minnesota, Iowa and Wisconsin.
Sowers will lead the organization’s capabilities to service TOC’s growing customer base with qualified and engaged employees.
A known leader in the staffing industry, Sowers joined Kelly Services more than 30 years ago as a staffing
supervisor in Kelly Services’ Eagan, Minn. office. Since then he has held various positions in operations management, and most
recently was vice president of the North Sector - U.S. Operations, where he successfully led operations, management, sales and
recruiting. In addition, Sowers was instrumental in the design and implementation of Kelly Services’ centralized eRecruiting team,
and led the eAccount and eRecruiting organizations.
“We identified Al for this position because of his extensive experience in business and superior operations,
management, sales and recruiting,” said Nicola Soares, vice president and managing director of the education practice for Kelly
Services. “Education continues to be a sector with ever-increasing staffing demands, and Al’s past accomplishments prove that he
will be able to make a huge impact for our customers and expand our solutions successfully.”
Sowers has returned to his Minnesota roots, relocating to Teachers On Call’s headquarters in Bloomington. He earned
two bachelor’s degrees from the University of Minnesota, Duluth.
“As a longtime Kelly employee, I am passionate about the value we provide our partner school districts and the
qualified teaching talent we’re able to deliver to meet staffing needs,” Sowers said. “I’m honored for the opportunity to increase
our presence and offer a solution to teacher shortages in the Midwest.”
Teachers On Call was acquired by Kelly Services in 2017 to expand the company’s portfolio as a staffing resource in
the K-12 market. Increased demand for educational staffing services has grown amidst teacher shortages, and Teachers On Call is a
market leader in addressing schools’ talent needs. Visit teachersoncall.com.
