I'm a retail ("same day"/swing) trader who trades between 40 and 60 trades a month. I primarily trade from an RSP and secondarily from a TFSA account through a discount broker. I'm convinced the whole marketplace is set up to position the "retail trader" at a disadvantage - Starting with you're very own online discount investing broker! 99% of my stock picks are from the TSX Venture board. I do not make stock recommendations. Those who do, do it out of self interest and prey on others so that they can sell them their stocks in the end and then announce they closed their position. Why else would you tell someone to buy?? As Ayn Rand professed - There is no such thing as altruism. I will on occasion disclose stocks I routinely trade but do not recommend them. Its your job to pick your stocks and develop a trading strategy. My blog includes info on: - Mining and Energy Stocks. - Online trading - Technology - Current events - Books/Music

"Hallelujah"On Tuesday May 4/10, I spoke to a rep at RBC Direct Investing about this.  It may start as soon as the end of May or beginning of June 2010.My understanding is:Both my RSP and TFSA trading accounts will automatically include a US account option. No need to open separate accounts. Sounds great! Will definitely be taking advantage of this. Just holding US cash will prove beneficial in...

Its been a few crappy days with RBC Direct Investing.Level 2 quotes for the venture stocks were not always available for hours at a time. And when they did work, they had weird anomalies  embedded in the quote page. They swear up and down that its their "provider's" problem (Thomson Reuters) and other discount houses have had similar problems.Again I said to them - Why is it only a problem...

Trading TrapsOf Note:There are always traders better than you.And they’re looking to exploit you at any chance they get.You can learn more about how to avoid them—and even make money off them..........................With my access to  "Level II quotes", I regularly see these "red herring" plays of ramped up demand to buy/sell a given stock - "the squeeze play" - on the Venture Exchange's...

That said, looking into what some funds hold and gauge how they are performing is always a welcomed tool to assist in performing due diligence.  ____________________________________________________________________________________________Thursday, April 22, 2010 7:30 PMThe Globe...

Of Note:As defined by IUPAC, rare earth elements or rare earth metals are a collection of seventeen chemical elements in the periodic table, namely scandium, yttrium, and the fifteen lanthanides. Scandium and yttrium are considered rare earths since they tend to occur in the same ore deposits as the lanthanides and exhibit similar chemical properties. The term "rare earth" arises from the rare...
