RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:FP Article

I think the transaction with Aspenleaf should be expected, given Arcan's high debt. This is the typical end for the heavily indebted companies.

RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:FP Article

I trade debs for ten bucks, so no problem trading at that price.

RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:FP Article

Fair points JD - but debenture trading is expensive.  I was tempted to press the eject button after the deal was first announced, but I have nowhere better to park the funds.  My brokerage ...more

RE:RE:RE:RE:FP Article

As I replied to rad, that may be the plan. I certainly wouldn't be holding the debentures, as the limited upside is offset by the risk of a lower price after the deal is rejected. But down the ...more

JD, If  you are long the debentures, why not sell now and buy back at a much lower price after the deal is voted down?

RE:RE:FP Article

You make a good point, rad. I might join you in buying those debs.

RE:FP Article

Hilarious but  true - at the end of the day the assets are around 610 million, the liabiliities are 380 million.  I am happy to load up on these debentures when the proposed deal falls on it ...more

I am getting the feeling you have been buying common shares, and are lying about not having a position.

RE:teevee

If they wanted it, they would have come by now.......and why make an offer if they kill the deal? Why not wait for ARN to deteriorate further, and maybe pick up the pieces in a distress sale, or from ...more

You are missing something. CPG and/or LTS can kill this deal, then come back with a total buyout offer. If the common shares plummet as you expect, then the shareholders would jump at the chance to ...more

These are opinion boards and I am intrigued by the outcome of the Aspenleaf offer. My opinion is based on my belief that the alternative to Aspenleaf's offer is worse for both shareholders and ...more

RE:RE:teevee

But why are you defending a deal where the common shareholders get money from the debenture holders, if you have no economic interest?
Comment by teeveeon Jul 27, 2014 11:51pm

RE:teevee

I am retired. I once owned ARN shares, but after they sold debentures to pay for pipelines and roads etc, I sold. Why? First, the acid fracs didn't work as well as hoped for, and second, because ...more
