Rajant Connects Massive North American Coal Mine with the World’s Largest Deployed Kinetic Mesh Network

MALVERN, Pa.--()--Rajant Corporation, the pioneer of Kinetic Mesh Networks and provider of proven, multi-frequency mesh networking solutions, today announced the successful deployment of the world’s largest Kinetic Mesh Network, spanning more than 115 square miles with plans in place to expand to nearly 150 square miles.

“This massive deployment demonstrates the reliability of our networks, their ability to scale, and how we address mobility with nearly 200 pieces of equipment in constant motion.”

The network is situated in one of the largest coal mines in North America, and faces harsh environmental conditions and constantly changing topography year-round. Nearly 300 Rajant BreadCrumb® nodes, each with three radios utilizing different frequencies make up the network, which operates on a 24x7x365 basis. Currently, there are twelve applications running simultaneously across the network, with more applications planned for future deployment.

“This network has been operational for more than one year – reliably running critical mining operation applications all that time without a single failure,” said Bob Schena, Founder and CEO of Rajant Corporation. “This massive deployment demonstrates the reliability of our networks, their ability to scale, and how we address mobility with nearly 200 pieces of equipment in constant motion.”

Rajant’s solutions are based on the proven Rajant BreadCrumb® wireless, portable mesh networking nodes and InstaMesh software, which enable continuous and instantaneous routing of wireless and wired connections. This dynamic frequency utilization capability allows for total network mobility – Kinetic Meshing – as well as robust fault tolerance, high throughput and low latency.

The range of applications supported by Kinetic Mesh Networking is virtually unlimited – from remote monitoring and equipment conditions, voice and data communications, and video security. Rajant’s technology is used extensively today in demanding military and mining operations, and can provide the same levels of reliable security, safety and productivity for any industry that must monitor and protect remote infrastructure.
