Unless the Conservatives together with the Peoples Party get a plurality of seats, which seems unlikely at this point, I don't think the carbon tax will be repealed. Any proposal to eliminate the tax would probably be voted against by the Liberals, the NDP, the Bloc and the Greens.

I hope we get Liberal majority, that would put some certainty for at least four years. With the carbon tax sure to grow to 50$ a ton in a few years, CO2 emitters will start to get serious about finding solutions.

Andrew Scheer would probably agree with you, as would the integrated oil companies. Status quo is working great for all of them: plenty of profit on that low grade low price bitumen leaving for their low tax US refineries, just sit back and complain until the electorate forgets about Harper.  Another Liberal majority would guarantee Trudeau risks nothing on real environmental leadership and
